I also remember "Men, men, men Lots of old radio logos and bumper stickers. Always woke up to moby. I had a delivery route and would load up my pinto and take off driving and singing to mobys songs.
The mailman song and the morning astrology guide were my favorites. Boy i miss those days. You can post now and register later. If you have an account, sign in now to post with your account. Paste as plain text instead.

Posted February 26, Of course he later went on to be an AM Rush Limbaugh clone until Posted March 2, Actually, they had the runaway radio before the silver dude The silver dude was like in the late 70's's I think anyway The runaway radio was the original sticker when they came on the air, pretty sure.. Or to me anyway In those days, the little green runaway radio was the usual sticker.
The programming in that day was much more "hippyish" for a lack of a better description. It was kinda like KPFT on commercial steroids. But they played all the popular album rock, where KPFT played whatever was weird enough. I still remember when the news came on KLOL, they would play all these background sounds like crickets, little varmits, spacy noises, etc, etc.. Really weird compared to the bottled crap they have now. Radio was much better back in those days. It's so pathetic now, I can hardly stand to listen to it, and in fact, am more prone to be on AM listening to talk radio, than I am FM rock.
I recently also bought a metal detector, and like to prowl for old relics. Another sign of old fartism setting in There was a rock station in the early 70's that tried out the slot, but danged if I can remember who it was offhand. It was before the 97 rock most think of , which to me was quite a bit later in the overall scheme of things.
Most of my music these days is on video tape, or recording digital on this puter.. BTW, I remember the "old" back in 69 was a pretty cool station. But I liked better when it came on. If you were to play those old shows today, noone would raise an eyebrow, but for the time, he was pretty raw. Reply Quote. Joined: Dec 31, Posts: 20, He was a good guy. I doubt seriously that he was fired for his accent.
They probably are trimming their payroll. Still, you can be fired for anything in radio. I was fired once for giving the wrong temperature on a weather forcast Gig 'Em. Joined: Dec 21, I couldn't stand listening to him. It's guys like Moby that made the cracked voice kids on KTRU stumbling through a song title and artist, then shutting up and playing music, sound like the greatest DJ's in the history of ever. You can say what you want about any of them, but all 3 were outstanding at their jobs.
I am proud to have been a part of the supporting cast. I don't doubt they were good at what they did. I just never liked what they did, though a lot of people obviously did. Joined: Nov 22, Posts: 24, I listened to KLOL because, basically, it was one of the only stations worth listening to back in the late 80's early 90's.

Posts: 54, I listened to Moby while getting ready for school in the '80's I liked him. I'll never forget when 97 Rock was giving away Z's and Moby gave one away on his morning show. Moby ran his show on an 8 second delay to bleep out profanity from "live" phone calls. He got his winner All of this was on the air at about in the morning.
My dad was taking me to school that day and neither one of us could believe what we were hearing. All of us have radio horror stories, and to hear Moby tell that one was one of the funniest stories I've ever heard. Was 97 Rock the station that had the headphone classic show on the weekends?
That was kinda cool. Even though Ags are supposed to support other Ags, I've decided to wean myself away from the Clear Channel radio stations here in Dallas, due to the cookie cutter mentality you speak of.
For the most part, I only listen to Wild Maybe other people will notice that the quality of radio has declined and will boycott Clear Channel as well in attempt to get us back to high quality radio Texas Aggie '98 "You should not have won.
