If you are a single player guy than get Red tide AS2 and its editor and mods are great for skirmishy singleplayer and proper skirmish once that DLC comes , and if you want some really challenging pre-scripted historical missions get Men of War and Men of War: Red Tide as well.

There's also the Dynamic Campaign Generaor mod for those two which I'd highly recommend, though a version for AS2 is in development. AS2 right now has the best and more active modding community and way of sharing mods so in AS2 you can find many mods improving your SP experience too, the only problem perfamances are still not that great, specially with mods you gonna face crashes.
